Connecting your accounts
How does ClearPocket connect to my bank?
We use Plaid, the industry-standard service trusted by millions of apps (Venmo, Robinhood, Acorns). Plaid securely connects to over 12,000 financial institutions in the US. You log in directly with your bank — ClearPocket never sees or stores your bank credentials. We only read transaction data, nothing else.
Is my bank data secure?
Yes. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using 256-bit encryption. Plaid is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant — the same standard used by major banks. ClearPocket never stores your bank login credentials; Plaid handles that. We only receive anonymized transaction data, and we never sell or share your financial information with third parties.
Can I disconnect my bank at any time?
Absolutely. You can disconnect your bank connection from your dashboard at any time. You can also email us at support@clearpocket.app and we'll remove all your data within 30 days.
Subscriptions & billing
How does ClearPocket find my subscriptions?
Once connected, ClearPocket analyzes your transaction history and detects recurring charges using pattern recognition — amount, frequency, and merchant signals. It surfaces subscriptions you may have forgotten about (trials, annual plans, annual billing). You see everything in your dashboard with direct links to cancel.
Does ClearPocket automatically cancel subscriptions for me?
ClearPocket surfaces your subscriptions and gives you direct links to cancel — but we don't auto-cancel without your explicit permission. You review everything in your dashboard and click to cancel or keep. Pro users get access to our bill negotiation concierge, which handles cancellation and negotiation on your behalf.
How does the subscription work? Do I pay per bank?
No per-bank fees. Your subscription covers all connected accounts. Starter is free and gives you full subscription scanning and cancellation links. Pro is $9/month and adds auto-investing, playbook strategies, bill negotiation, and a portfolio dashboard. No contracts — cancel anytime from your account settings.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, 100%. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings at any time — it takes 30 seconds. Your scanner data is retained for 30 days after cancellation, then permanently deleted.
Auto-investing
How does auto-investing work?
Pro users set an investment amount and target (e.g., "invest $50/month into a low-cost index fund"). ClearPocket tracks your spending and automatically schedules investments — rounded-up purchases, spare change, or fixed amounts — according to your chosen strategy. Funds are transferred from your connected checking account to your selected brokerage on your schedule.
What brokerage accounts do you support?
We support major brokerages including Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, and TD Ameritrade. You connect your brokerage account via Plaid just like your bank — we initiate transfers, never manage your portfolio. You remain in full control of your investment decisions.
Is my investment data private?
Yes. Your financial data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than the services you explicitly sign up for. ClearPocket does not provide investment advice — we're a tool that automates transfers you configure yourself.
General
Is ClearPocket a bank?
No. ClearPocket is a financial aggregator and automation tool. We connect to your existing bank and brokerage accounts via Plaid to read transactions and initiate transfers. We do not hold deposits, and we are not a licensed investment advisor.
Does ClearPocket affect my credit score?
No. Connecting your bank and using ClearPocket has zero impact on your credit score. We read transaction data, not credit reports, and we never perform a hard credit inquiry.
What happens to my data if ClearPocket shuts down?
We will notify all users 60 days before any shutdown and provide a data export. All personal and financial data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account closure or service termination. Plaid automatically revokes our access to your connected accounts when you disconnect.
